April showers have been upon us, but spring is blooming and Easter celebrations are nearing. I am hosting Easter this year, and it’s important to me that I prep as much as I can in advance. I love personalized touches, like a DIY Easter Bunny centerpiece that features flowers from my own garden and a beautiful vase from my favorite Goodwill® store.
Keep reading to see how you can create a similar DIY Easter Bunny centerpiece — and feel free to try it with friends or kids, it’s an easy way to spread springtime joy while creating a fun statement piece for your home. Not only is this a more affordable way to add holiday décor to your home, but it’s also better for the environment to repurpose than buying something new. That’s why I love shopping secondhand at Goodwill.
Step 1: Head to Your Local Goodwill Store
The first step to creating a beautiful homemade Easter centerpiece is to take a trip to your local Goodwill store to source the perfect vase. In the home décor section, there will be a variety of shapes and sizes to choose from. Remember, you can also create more than one and give them out as gifts. On my trip to Goodwill, I found this vase which came with fake tulips for a total of $4.99 — sold! It got the wheels turning for what I would turn it into.
Step 2: Gather Other DIY Materials
To replicate this craft, you’ll need white paint, a paintbrush, markers and ribbon. You may have these items at home already (all the better for keeping this DIY centerpiece affordable). If not, browse the shelves at Goodwill before heading to another retail store, you never know what you might find. I was able to find the items I didn’t have at home for $1 each. That brings the total cost of my centerpiece to $7.
Step 3: Get Crafty
Set out some newspaper or other materials you don’t mind getting paint on before starting your craft. Then, paint the vase white and wait for it to dry. Once it’s dried, sketch out your bunny’s face on it. I like to do this in pencil first and then go over it with a marker once I’m happy with how it looks. Once the face is finished, tie your ribbon around the neck of the vase in a generous bow (the ribbon’s bow will be the bunny’s ears).
Step 4: Add Flowers
My yard has these beautiful yellow flowers in it that I thought would go perfectly with the faux pink tulips that came with the vase I purchased at Goodwill. I picked some and added them to the bouquet for an extra splash of color. Get creative with the flowers you add and the colors you bring into your home. You don’t need to buy extra flowers; Goodwill often has some that are fake, or you can check out your own backyard to see what might be blooming.
Step 5: Enjoy
