My Story: Sharrie Nix

If you stop by the patient waiting area at Indiana University Methodist Hospital at 4:30 am, you might be greeted by the calming voice of Ms. Sharrie Nix. Since late 2020, Sharrie has been helping patients check-in and prepare for surgery. She also assists with care coordination by connecting family members and doctors following each procedure. Sharrie is no stranger to early mornings or nervous patients given that she has been in the healthcare industry for more than 30 years.

Cozy Comforts for Fall

As I sit here playing connect the dots with the mosquito bite scars of summer still gracing my arms, I can’t wait for cooler weather to cover them up again. I’m a bit relieved that summer has officially come to a close, and not just because of the annual scratchy souvenirs they leave behind. If there’s one thing warmer months teach me every year, it’s that I’m best built to endure harsh nordic winters. Fall LEWKS are my jam.

The Reconciliation Bill Moves Closer to Reality

The House Committees have finished marking up their portions of the reconciliation bill, a $3.5 trillion measure investing in components of President Biden’s American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan.  Using reconciliation will allow the bill to pass with a simple majority and avoid a filibuster, however not every Democrat is onboard. Ask Congress to Invest in Workforce Development

The House of Representatives returned to Washington, DC for a moment during their summer recess for a crucial vote on the budget resolution. Goodwill is Never Too Cool for School

Remember the night before the first day of school when you were little? Just thinking about all the new teachers, new friends, new faces, and new routines always had me practically vibrating with excitement at what the next day would hold. The smell of new crayons, the first-day outfit planning-- it was all so routine, until last year.
