My Story: Eun Hee Lee

Goodwill Korea gave Eun Hee Lee her first job in 2010. Working at the Sasang Store in Busan, she helps prepare donated clothing, assisting customers and cleaning, among other work. She enjoys her job and gets excited when customers are able to get great deals on items. She says, "I hope more people donate to Goodwill so we have more goods to sell and our store will be full of more and more customers."

My Story: Kris Jacques

Kris, who has cerebral palsy, had a hard time finding an employer who would allow him to prove he could work, until Goodwill gave him a chance. Since getting hired, he's proved his ability as a donor and greeter, and has gained personal and financial independence.

My Story: Stephanie Gayle

Stephanie separated from her husband and had a hard time making ends meet and supporting her daughters. Goodwill's Beyond Jobs program for single mothers helped connect her to training and employment opportunities, and taught her how to budget. She now has a full-time job and a house for her two girls. She says, "It feels good to know all my hard work has paid off."

My Story: Dalton Henretta

Dalton, who has Asperger's and bipolar disorder, had trouble in school and wasn't sure he'd be able to succeed in a job. With support from Goodwill, he now works full time in their e-books department and says he's learned "you have to give respect to get respect."

Jennifer has been a Goodwill employee for 14 years, hanging clothes that get sent out on Goodwill sales floors. With her co-workers' support, she has increased the number of pieces she can produce and is a smiling and cheerful colleague.

My Story: Francis Edwards

Francis struggled to maintain a job due to long-term mental health challenges. Goodwill helped him acclimate to working in an office, providing strategies and outlets for him to manage stress. He now works full-time with Goodwill and feels his mental health will stay strong as long as he is working.

Workers with Disabilities Stay Fit in Florida Goodwill Health Program

Thirty-one program participants with developmental disabilities have lost more than 165 pounds since August 2011, thanks to the ‘Get Fit Club’ health and exercise initiative implemented by Goodwill Industries-Suncoast (FL). To combat the weight gain and low energy participants experienced due to poor eating habits and a lack of exercise, the Goodwill® has added exercise breaks and nutrition education as part of their six-hour work shifts.

My Story: Troy Wilkinson

After leaving a longtime janitorial position, Troy -- an Army veteran -- had a hard time finding another job and feared losing everything he had worked toward. He connected with Goodwill and learned valuable employment skills such as how to operate a cash register. He's now been employed with Goodwill for over a year and is happy with the new life he has build for himself.

My Story: Eureeka Jackson

Eureeka became the primary caregiver for her sisters after her grandmother passed away. She entered vocational rehabilitation training at Goodwill, which helped her eventually gain a full-time position at the agency. She is now proud to be able to provide for her sisters and is working towards a college degree as a medical assistant.
