As the end of 2015 approaches, it’s natural to begin contemplating changes and improvements for the new year ahead. The ringing in of 2016 isn’t just about throwing a great party – although, let’s be honest, going the extra mile to find fun dress and décor is a wonderful way to start on a positive

A Christmas Kickoff
Thanksgiving is over, so it’s now officially okay to start celebrating Christmas (if that’s your thing, anyway). It’s always been an important holiday in my family so I’m excited to throw myself into decorating, party planning, and gift buying with all the vigor of a well-rested reindeer on Christmas Eve morning. Join me, will you?
Making it Yours: Found to Favorite
If you want something done right, you’d better do it yourself. This is a hard idea to swallow because it means putting a lot of elbow grease into everything you do, but, if you think about it, isn’t that the only way you’ll be perfectly satisfied with the outcome? Take clothing, for example, it’s rare to find a shirt that fits you exactly right on the first try. Even if it fits in the store when you by it brand new, after running it through the wash once or twice it can fit very differently! Why not whip out that sewing machine and turn it into something that is just right for your body. You’re unique. Your stuff should be unique, too!
Harvest Brunch Inspiration
Every October, some friends of mine host a harvest brunch at their home. Families travel from all over the state on a Sunday morning to break bread together and catch up over hot coffee and cool fall moods. There is just something about a chill in the air that makes us all want to come together and, since this is one of my favorite fall occurrences, I thought I’d share that feeling with you today.
Boston Goodwill Showcases Historic Wall Hanging
Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries (Boston, MA) recently hung a commemorative wall hanging in the agency’s headquarters, originally created to celebrate Goodwill Industries of America's (now known as Goodwill Industries International) 75th anniversary in 1977. The piece, which resembles a quilt, illustrates the Boston Goodwill’s history and provides a look at the composition of the Goodwill enterprise at the time.

DIY Halloween
There are 15 days left before Halloween! That’s plenty of time to make your own costume! Sure, you could buy one that’s ready-made, but what’s the fun in that? Use the next two weeks to invent an ensemble that is completely unique and you’ll really knock the socks off of those trick-or-treaters and costume partygoers. Here’s what I’m talking about…
Color Crush: Citron
Here in New England, autumn is saturating our leaves with its most glorious tones. Every year, I’m in awe of the colors being produced, but once in awhile, I find a new obsession with one shade in particular. Even if it’s an old familiar hue, I’ll suddenly see it in a new way that has me wishing I could redecorate my whole house to capture its mood. Of course, I don’t have the time or money to undertake such a restructuring, so I have to find other ways to bring the color-du-jour into my life. This year, I’m head over heels for the bright, lemony look of citron that I’ve seen adorning some of my local branches. It’s not a color that is often associated with fall, but in my neck of the woods (quite literally) it’s really been catching my eye.
Dress Up Your Furriest Friends for Halloween
How’s your Halloween planning going so far? If you can believe it, only a matter of weeks stand between you and one of the spookiest – and most entertaining – nights of the year! As for me, I’m still in the idea stage of my costume and décor planning (I’d better get moving!), so I’ve been spending some time lately brainstorming ideas (read: Googling).
Monotone Moods for Halloween
It’s hard to believe, but Halloween is just around the corner and the time for costume and décor shopping is now! One thing that I love about Halloween is how reliant the holiday is on setting a mood. I feel like this day, more than any other, is shrouded in a distinct ambiance. To achieve an eerie atmosphere, I’ve noticed that it can sometimes be as simple as streamlining everything to black and white. This emphasizes the shadows, and we all know that Halloween is a shadowy event, don’t we?
